Mystic Sun Week
I’ve always loved participating in drawing and illustration challenges, as they push my creativity to new horizons and keep my skills and imagination sharp. During the summer of 2019, a group of epic female illustrators, including my illustration idol Nancy Chalmers, imagined a enchanting illustration challenge, which they titled Mystic Sun Week. The challenge spanned across 7 days and was centered around themes like the magic of the sun, solar cycles, and the abundance of summer. Immediately my imagination went to work and ideas started flowing. I thought it would be fun to twist the challenge a little and combine each of the prompts, resulting in some of the most beautiful illustrations I have created to date.
The prompts for each day were flower, goddess, flourish, sunbathe, fruit, animal, and festivities. I really love that I had combined each of the prompts because it really let me go above and beyond what I would have created for each prompt alone. I’m so happy I participated in this challenge and I can’t wait for the next one!
