Holiday Cheer at Starbucks Coffee!
If there’s anything cooler than a Starbucks Frappuccino, it’s getting to design the cafe’s chalkboards!
While working at Starbucks as a Barista Trainer, I offered my illustration skills to create chalkboard designs that highlighted our new holiday menu items. It was a treat getting to work on these boards!
I love typography and writing, so choosing the font to write out the titles was a blast! The first board served as a spotlight for our sweet holiday pastries! I opted for a classic cursive font for this board to add a holiday feel. Since each treat centered around a snow theme, I chose white as the color to tie the board together with two sprigs of holly adorning the top of the board.
The second board had a bit more of a playful feel because we wanted to emphasize the joy of our newest Snowman Frappuccino! I turned the classic frappuccino cup into a snowglobe that housed our snowman in a winter wonderland. Snow flurries danced around the board to bring the holiday feel to life!
Lastly, to spread even more holiday cheer, I decorated our nametags with holly, ornaments, and snowflakes! The customers loved them and our team felt excited to have personalized nametags!
This project remains one of my favorites because it was so fun getting to see people’s real time reactions to my designs while I worked my shifts. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of creative effort to help make someone feel happy and bright!
