A Tale of UX/UI

Like many people, my sister went through a career change after graduating from college. She studied psychology and French with the goal of going into the medical field until she realized that dream was one she would be putting away on a shelf. So she started a youtube channel, packed her bags, and moved to Paris to teach English for a year. Little did she know, this journey would lead her into the world of UX/UI.

If you’re not familiar with the acronyms UX/UI, they stand for user experience and user interface, which is short for someone who designs how a person experiences and interacts with a product, store, website, etc. You name it.

As she started moving into the world of design, she stumbled upon General Assembly’s UX/UI program and after 10 weeks of sweat, sticky notes, and tears, she graduated with her certificate! Since then she’s been designing her portfolio to showcase each of the projects she worked on, which is where I come in. In need of some illustrations for one of her case studies, she turned to me for help. Her goal was to illustrate her journey into UX/UI as well as create character designs for her ideal personas. The end result was super cute and brought so much life to her portfolio!

Swipe through the illustrations to see Greta, my sister, as the protagonist of her story. Our cat Shasta makes a special appearance.

Below are the personas we created for her case study.

I really enjoyed creating these and I’m looking forward to my next character design project!
