Pokey Okey All Day Long
I’ve always been a fan of sushi and poke! Even more so when I was studying animation, because it was a healthy, nutritious, delicious, and easy meal that sustained me for long hours animating behind a screen. So when Pokey Okey opened up their new location on Hornby Street in Vancouver and announced a competition to create content for their new store in return for free poke for a year, I was in!
I lined up and ordered myself a delicious poke bowl and then ran home to my apartment to start taking pictures and drafting up ideas of how I could create a promotional post. Since I love poke so much and the store stayed open during late hours, I thought the phrase “All Day Long” would be the perfect culmination of those two ideas.
Pokey Okey has a beautiful tropical flower logo and that inspired me to create floral elements to add into my picture and tie it back to the store’s branding. Since I was studying animation, I decided to put my skills to the test and have all the design elements bloom around the bowl. I drew everything out in Procreate and then brought into After Effects for the final animation.
While I wasn’t chosen as the winner, I was so happy with my end result and the store loved my idea! Plus, I got to enjoy a delicious poke bowl out of it! You can enjoy my piece below!
